Sinonasal-type hemangiopericytoma is an uncommon upper aerodigestive tract tumor of uncertain cellular differentiation. We report 104 cases of sinonasal-type hemangiopericytoma diagnosed between 1970 and 1995 from the files of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.

This page discusses intracranial hemangiopericytomas. Saved by VirtualMedStudent. 118. Radiology Imaging Hemangiopericytoma.

Hemangiopericytoma, first described and named by Stout and Murray in 1942, 1 is an uncommon spindle-cell tumor that pathologically displays a thin-walled vascular branching pattern. Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a central nervous system tumor that arises from the pericytes of meningeal capillaries. 1 These tumors are more likely to occur in males, most commonly in the fourth or fifth decade. 1 Signs and symptoms at presentation may include headache, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, and photophobia. 4 Intraventricular HPC is rare and most often found in the lateral ventricles. CT and MR imaging may serve a role in preoperative diagnosis. The purpose of this report was to describe the radiologic findings in 9 pathologically proved cases of intracranial meningeal hemangiopericytomas in children and adolescents.

The radiology literature has reported a total of five cases of primary pulmonary hemangiopericytoma from two studies. In both, emphasis is placed on radiographic, CT, and MRI features [6, 7]. However, to our knowledge, MR angiography and Doppler sonography findings of hemangiopericytoma arising in the lung have not been documented.

Prof. Dr. Marco Essig Department of Radiology German Cancer Research Center Im Neuenheimer Feld 280 D-69120 Heidelberg Germany e-mail: m.essig@dkfz.de Objective: Solitary fibrous tumor/hemangiopericytoma (SFT/HPC) and meningioma exhibit similar radiographic features; however, they differ in their prognoses. Preoperative differentiation between them is important for determining the treatment and follow-up plan. The aim of this study was to determine the factors that can be used to differentiate SFT/HPC from meningioma and World Health 2020-10-13 Hemangiopericytoma has no predilection for age or sex; it was congenital in 3 of Stout's patients. In cases of thoracic hemangiopericytoma, the age range was from ten to seventy-five years, with an average of forty-six years.
